Inside every Possiave filter is activated carbon made from coconut shells. The granules are full of tiny pores, which give them a huge surface area. Chlorine, odors and other impurities stick to that surface as the water passes through, so they don't end up in your coffee.

How to replace the water filter in a Keurig coffee maker

    Remove the handle

    Open the lid of the brewer and lift the water-filter handle assembly out of the reservoir.

    Rinse the new filter

    Hold the new Possiave filter under running water for about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

    Soak it

    Drop it in a glass of water for 5 minutes, or until it is fully saturated and sinks.

    Snap it on

    Pull the old filter off the end of the handle and snap the new one into place.

  5. 5

    Set the reminder

    Turn the date dial on the handle two months ahead, so you know when the next change is due.

    Put it back

    Push the handle assembly back into the reservoir and press down firmly until it locks.

Pick by brand. Keurig filters fit brewers with the water-filter handle (Keurig 2.0 and classic models such as B40, B60, B70, K45, K75 and K145). Cuisinart filters fit DCC, DGB and CBC models with a charcoal holder. Breville filters replace the BWF100 cartridge in Barista Express, Barista Pro, Infuser, Dual Boiler and Oracle machines. Check the model list on each card.

They are made in the same shape as the originals. Most buyers say they fit perfectly with no trimming. One Keurig owner found them slightly small in their holder, so if your filter feels loose, make sure it is snapped fully onto the end of the handle.

Possiave's instructions say every 2 months for Keurig and every 30 days for Breville espresso machines. For Cuisinart, follow the reminder on your machine. Change sooner if you have hard water or brew a lot, and later if you fill the tank with already filtered or reverse-osmosis water.

Soaking for about 5 minutes fills the carbon with water and pushes out trapped air. A dry filter can float, let water bypass it, or release a little loose carbon dust in the first brew. The quick rinse washes that dust away.

Natural coconut-shell activated carbon inside a fine mesh or PP-cotton shell. The shell keeps the carbon granules inside, so they don't leak into the machine or your cup.

They reduce the calcium that causes scale, which slows down build-up, but they don't replace descaling. Keep descaling your machine on the schedule in its manual.

They are espresso machine cleaning tablets. You put one in the portafilter on top of the cleaning disc and run the machine's cleaning cycle. It dissolves coffee oils in the group head and takes about 5 minutes.

No. According to the listing, the kits do not fit the BES880 Barista Touch, or the BES990 Oracle Touch from batch 1747 onward. Older Oracle Touch machines are fine. The plain Breville filter boxes list Oracle Touch batch 1746 and earlier.
